Outbreak is a live-action ARG in which players are set in a zombie apocalypse. There are two teams, the humans and the zombies. The humans' objective is to survive, using Nerf guns and balled socks to defend themselves from the zombie hordes, whose objective is to tag all humans into zombies. The game runs a week long, with a Grand Finale on Friday night.
Roles: I joined the Dev Team for Outbreak in Summer 2014 from my desire to learn more about game design and to work with multidisciplinary teams, something I hadn't had the chance to do before. Working with a team of Game Designers helped me learn a lot about sprinting, coming up with game mechanics, playtesting, intensity curves, and more importantly fixing game play issues dynamically to ensure maximum satisfaction from our players.
The catch is... none of this involved doing code. However I consider this an important experience on my track to become a Game Developer.
